Each vintage is reflected in wines into which the winegrowers put their every effort, every risk they take and their very instincts. Understanding the world of wine means taking several interacting factors into account : the different generations following on one from the last, the geography of the terroirs and the diversity of vintages over the contingencies of nature.
Fully aware of the many factors that influence the character of an authentic wine, at Domaine Neumeyer each individual element is taken into consideration and, as far as possible, optimised. In the vineyards, each plot is managed in accordance with the principles of organic winegrowing, with surface tilling, green cover with native flora, hand-picking and selection of grapes, plot selection and measured yields. In the wine cellar, soft pressing, sorting table, minimalist vinification at the discretion of the winegrower, indigenous yeasts and long ageing on lees are all techniques that we employ to maintain the raw potential of grapes picked at perfect ripeness.
On our own local scale, the entire family involved in Domaine Neumeyer aspires to offer top quality wines of character that best represent the potential of our vineyards, which are situated in the three Alsatian villages of Molsheim, Mutzig and Avolsheim.
Because we believe that human beings are far and away the most fundamental aspect of producing wines of character, each generation has thus contributed its own particular sensitivity. In order to understand wines which are rooted in a very specific place, one must first understand the human dynamic that results from historical, socio-economical and geographical interactions. To interpret a terroir, over and above any technical and climatic considerations, one must first ask questions about the people who devote their life to it.
Addressing the complexity of very specific places while ensuring that their particularities are reproduced in the bottle is, in short, the ambition of our estate. Focusing on these few hectares which, in reality, incorporate much wider influences and much broader fields of reflection.
We would be delighted to welcome you to our tasting cellar by appointment from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 6pm
